Baptism Godparent Gift: Say ‘Thank You’ in a meaningful way
|
|
Many families like to thank the Godparents for their input and participation
on the special day by way of a gift. It is therefore common courtesy for the parents of the baptised
infant to present a gift to the godmother and godfather.
These gifts are, almost without exception, purely sentimental in nature.
It’s generally not intended for it to have any practical benefits apart from coincidental practical
uses.

Tokens are some of the most popular gifts for godparents at
a baptism. Tokens take on the shape and sizes of many different things, but some always do stand out. Glass
tokens are one of these, and always look impressive. They are normally produced with certain text such as
‘Special Godmother’, ‘Godfather’, ‘Thank you for being my godparent’, etc. Pewter heart shaped tokens also
constantly win the hearts of godparents. They have an elegant silver feel to it, and are engraved with various
messages.
Godmother baptism gifts need to ‘speak off’ the occasion. Think
Photo!!
There’s something special about a photograph. It captures the
big moment and enables that memory to live with us for years on end. Photo frames are therefore also a very
popular baptism godparent gift. Fact is, godparents want to remember this special moment just as much as
the biological parents. A tip to remember: It’s best to normally insert a photo beforehand – normally a
picture of the godparents and godchild at the event.
Other miscellaneous baptism godparent gifts are candles, bracelets,
teddy bears, coffee mugs, bookmarks and vases. All of these items can be personalised with a special message
that perhaps reference to the christening service. Alternatively, many retailers sell these items with already
standard messages similar to the ones mentioned above.
True to the spiritual nature of the event, you can also pick
a gift with more meaning on a religious level. Gifts like angel figures, standing crosses, rosary bracelets
and plaques can serve the purpose on this.
Godparents have no legal responsibility over their godchildren,
but nevertheless a long-term commitment is made to act in the best interest of the child. A gift from the
biological parents (regardless of what type) is a nice way to say thank you for their love and support.
